Events in The Netherlands

“Networking is all about connecting with people. But then again, isn't that what life is about? The more time you can find to get out of the office and build true friendships, the farther your startup will go. Entrepreneurs need to remember to spend as much time working on their business as they do in their business.”
( Jay Samit, 2014 )

2015

I found out for the first time about The Dutch Design Week in 2015. I attended the exposition for the concepts of beauty. Blanc Collective is formed by 10 designers originating from different educations and backgrounds. Starting from a symbolic "blanc" canvas, the collective joined forces to expand their vision, criticise and enrich each other's notion of what beauty can be. Each work illustrates a different thought process, formed by the artist’s personal background: beauty is a fact - beauty and the brain, beauty is perception, beauty is in the detail - grained porcelain, beauty is the attraction that you give to an object, beauty is a forced liability, beauty is in the experiment - dressing architecture, beauty is in character - the four temperaments, beauty is soft core, beauty is in the familiar, beauty is paradise. The exhibition explored the limits of materials, lead by an atmosphere of delicate hues.

2016

The Dutch Technology Week at its fifth edition promoted enthusiasm and pride for technology in the Dutch high-tech sector. The program started in 2011 when in May that year The Brainport Eindhoven Region was acknowledged as "the smartest region in the world". I attended a few sessions at The Dutch Technology Week in June 2016 and I would like to dedicate a few posts to share with you what I found interesting at the events.

In the month of October of each year, The Dutch Design Week takes place in Eindhoven. The biggest design event in Northern Europe presents work and ideas of more than 2500 designers to more than 275,000 visitors from home and abroad. In more than hundred locations across the city, The Dutch Design Week organises and facilitates exhibitions, lectures, prize ceremonies, networking events, debates and festivities. I started working as a crew member of The Dutch Design Week in 2016.

2017

The STRP continuous multi-year programme was founded in 2005 and now became one of Europe's largest indoor festivals in the field of technology and art. The programme is a critical optimistic exploration into positive futurism and it has four sections: STRP Festival, STRP Share, STRP Scenarios & Story, STRP Pop Ups. The STRP Festival is a 10-days event with educational expositions, a 2-days conference, with music and performance programme. STRP Share is the education part of the programme that takes place all year long. STRP Scenarios & Story represents an open dialogue with do-ers, makers and thinkers with a hand-on attitude for a positive future. STRP Pop Ups increases the audience of the programme.

In March I joined the Singularity University Global Community. This community connects people that want to understand and explore current and future technologies to improve human lives and all aspects of the society. One may learn new skills, perspectives, insights and gain connections to impact in a positive way in their governments, industries, companies, local communities and families.

2020

To a non-expert reader comprehending the numbers, the forecasts and the epidemiological parameters presented in the apps may be quite a challenge. I interpreted aș a scientist the data presented by the World Health Organisation and I found later on în the year a more reliable calculator for the parameters linked to the virus spreading in the population în any country.
